By requesting or receiving handyman services from HomeTao (“Company,” “we,” “us”), you (“Client,” “you”) agree to the terms below.
1) Scope & Limits of Service
Handyman work includes minor repairs, assembly, installations, and maintenance tasks as described on our site/quotes.
We do not perform work that requires permits, licensed trade work, or inspections (e.g., structural changes, major plumbing, HVAC, roofing, or electrical beyond simple fixture swaps where allowed). We may refer you to licensed professionals as needed.
We reserve the right to decline tasks that are unsafe, outside our expertise, or not code-compliant.
2) Estimates, Pricing & Payment
Written estimates describe the anticipated scope and rate (fixed price or hourly). Estimates are good-faith and may change if conditions differ from what was visible/known. Any change in scope or price will be communicated and requires your approval.
Time & materials (T&M) work is billed in hourly increments plus parts and applicable trip/materials fees.
Special-order materials and deposits (if any) are billed upfront.
Payment is due at substantial completion unless otherwise stated. Unpaid balances may accrue late fees and suspend further service.
3) Access, Site Conditions & Client Responsibilities
Client must provide safe access, clear work areas, and disclose hidden conditions (e.g., known leaks, prior DIY repairs, asbestos/suspected hazards).
We are not responsible for delays or extra costs arising from concealed conditions, code violations, or pre-existing damage discovered during work.
4) Materials & Warranties
Unless otherwise specified, we may supply standard-grade materials appropriate for the task; Client may request specific brands/finishes at additional cost and lead time.
Workmanship warranty: We warrant our labor for 30 days from completion. This covers rework of our labor only and excludes materials (covered by manufacturer warranties), misuse, normal wear, or issues caused by hidden/structural defects, moisture intrusion, or code/non-permit constraints.
Consumables (caulk, patching compounds, etc.) and cosmetic touch-ups are not guaranteed against future movement/settling.
5) Electrical/Plumbing Fixture Swaps (Minor)
Where allowed, fixture swaps assume existing, code-compliant, functioning boxes/valves/drains. If we find unsafe wiring, corroded valves, or incompatible parts, we’ll stop and discuss options (additional charges or referral to a licensed pro).
6) Liability, Damage & Limits
We use care, but work on aged or previously altered systems can expose failures beyond our control (e.g., brittle pipes, crumbling plaster, fragile tiles).
Except where prohibited by law, our total liability is limited to the amount paid for the specific job, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages (e.g., lost use, secondary water damage from pre-existing leaks).
7) Permits & Code
We do not obtain permits and do not perform work requiring permits or licensed trades. Client is responsible for any permits/approvals for future work beyond handyman scope.
8) Cancellations, Rescheduling & Trip Fees
Please provide 24 hours’ notice to reschedule or cancel. Short-notice cancellations or site inaccessibility may incur a $45 trip fee plus any special-order costs already incurred.
9) Clean-Up & Disposal
We clean up our work area and remove small job debris. Large/bulky debris or dump runs are available for an additional fee.
10) Photos & Documentation
With your permission, we may document before/after conditions for quality and record-keeping. No personal identifiers will be shared. You can opt out anytime.
11) Independent Contractor; Force Majeure; Governing Law
We provide services as an independent contractor. Delays may occur due to factors beyond our control (supply chain, weather, illness).
These terms are governed by the laws of Utah.
12) Acceptance
By approving an estimate, paying a deposit, or allowing work to begin, you confirm that you’ve read and agree to these terms.
